Kuwait Fire: In the Mangaf neighborhood of southern Kuwait, a multi-story building housing foreign workers sustained significant damage as a result of a large fire. In addition to more than 50 injuries sustained, about 40 Indians perished in the fire. According to an official with knowledge of the situation, the big fire at this structure, known as Al-Mangaf, claimed the lives of 49 people. While some of them were citizens of Pakistan, the Philippines, Egypt, and Nepal, more than 40 of them are thought to be Indian.


The Ministry of External Affairs released a statement late last night. It was reported that a fire at a residential structure in the Mangaf region of Kuwait claimed the lives of roughly forty Indians. This building housed workers. PM Modi met with senior officials, including Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister PK Mishra, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra, and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, calling the situation "tragic." During the meeting, the issue was examined. The relatives of the departed Indian citizens will receive an ex-gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh apiece from the Prime Minister's Relief Fund, according to PM Modi.


What was said by S Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs?

S Jaishankar, the minister of external affairs, conversed via phone with Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya, his counterpart from Kuwait. The Foreign Minister asked him to make sure that the Indians who perished in the fire had their corpses returned to India as soon as possible during their conversation. About the fire incident in Kuwait, Jaishankar posted on the social networking platform 'X' that he had a conversation with Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya, the foreign minister of Kuwait. It has been promised that the incident will be thoroughly investigated and that accountability will be assigned during the discussions.


The injured are still receiving treatment.

The Indian Embassy in Kuwait is working to obtain all relevant information from the Kuwaiti authorities, according to a statement released by the Ministry of External Affairs. The five government hospitals in Kuwait that are treating the injured are Aden, Jaber, Farwaniya, Mubarak Al Kabir, and Jahra. The majority of patients that are admitted have stable health conditions, according to the hospital management.


Among the dead were residents of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and other northern Indian states.

The English daily Arab Times reports that Indian citizens between the ages of 20 and 50 from Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and other North Indian states make up the majority of the deceased. The NBTC Group rented the aforementioned building. The Indian Embassy in Kuwait announced on social media that it has established an emergency helpline number (+965-65505246) in relation to the sad fire catastrophe that claimed the lives of Indian workers. Let us inform you that Indians make up 30% (about nine lakh) of Kuwait's labor force and 21% (10 lakh) of the country's total population.
