Jharkhand News: Five people are facing life in prison for allegedly gangraping a software developer in Chaibasa.



 Jharkhand News: In the gangrape case that took place in Chaibasa 1.5 years ago, the court has sentenced five individuals to life in jail. The Juvenile Court is now hearing the cases of five kids.


Jharkhand News|Bhagirathi Mahato, Chabaisa: Five people have been sentenced to life in jail by the court for allegedly gangraping a female software developer in West Singhbhum, Jharkhand. This punishment was delivered on Wednesday, May 29, by the POCSO Act's first district and session judge, which also serves as a special court.


Jharkhand News: There was a gangrape close to the airport

The girl, a software engineer, was abducted in the Mufassil police station area of Chabasa, close to the airport. Section 376 (D) of the Indian Penal Code has resulted in the life sentence (until death) of five accused parties in this case. These individuals are also facing proceedings under sections 395, 377, 412, and 376 of the Indian Penal Code; each has been fined Rs 10,000.


The case is pending in the Juvenile Court; five of the accused were juveniles.

The following convicts were given sentences: Suren Devgam (20), Prakash Devgam alias Dembo (21), Purmi Devgam alias Seti (19), and Shivshankar Karji alias Baj (22). They are all inhabitants of the village of Salihatu in the Mufassil police station area of Chabasa. In this case, five juveniles are also charged. The Juvenile Court is currently hearing all of the cases.


The crime was committed by ten persons on October 20, 2022.

It is known that the girl went on a walk with her buddy near the Chaibasa aerodrome on October 20, 2022, in the evening. The accused apprehended and assaulted the two of them at around seven o'clock in the evening. Following this, ten individuals gang-raped the girl while the boy was driven out of the area.


With the aid of the forensic and technical teams, mobile tower data was collected.

On October 22, the police moved quickly to take custody of all the suspects and place them in jail. On the orders of SP Ashutosh Shekhar, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) was established to solve the case and apprehend all of the accused parties. Together with the technical team, the forensic team provided assistance to the Special Investigation Team, which was established to solve the case. The local mobile tower data was also utilized by the police for this purpose.
