Excise Policy Case

Excise Policy Case: On Wednesday, Rouse Avenue Court placed AAP convenor and chief minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal, on a three-day CBI remand.

Excise Policy Case: On Wednesday, the CBI formally detained Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and asked the court to grant them five days of supervised detention so they could examine him about the corruption case involving the purported excise scandal. Following the hearing earlier today, Special Judge Amitabh Rawat postponed making a decision about the custody case.

Wife Sunita can meet Arvind Kejriwal for 30 minutes during remand period

During the remand period, the court allowed Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's wife Sunita Kejriwal to meet him for 30 minutes every day. Also, Kejriwal's lawyer was also allowed to meet him for 30 minutes every day. The court said that during the remand period, he has also been allowed to take his prescribed medicines and home-cooked food with him.

Manish Sisodia and I, Kejriwal informed the court, are innocent in this case, as is the AAP.

Arvind Kejriwal told the court during the hearing that he is innocent in this particular issue. He asserted that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia are both blameless. In a statement, Kejriwal informed the court, "I have placed all the blame on Manish Sisodia." The media has been citing CBI sources to support this claim. I haven't said anything to suggest that Sisodia or anybody else is guilty. I have declared my innocence, as well as the innocence of Sisodia and AAP.

Arvind Kejriwal accused the CBI of grave wrongdoing.

Their entire strategy, according to Arvind Kejriwal, is to discredit us in front of the media. Please take note that the media has reported on all of these items using CBI sources. Kejriwal further asserted that the CBI is exaggerating the situation. This needs to be made clear, he said. This will appear as the newspaper's main headline. To create a dramatic case is their goal.

For this reason, CBI asked the court for remand.

In its request for Kejriwal's custody, the CBI claimed that questioning him would be essential to revealing the case's greater plot. According to the agency, the Chief Minister of Delhi should also be presented with the proof and the other accused parties involved in the case. The CBI stated, "We need to arrest and question him because he doesn't even recognize (co-accused) Vijay Nair, who was once his subordinate." He claims that Saurabh Bhardwaj and Atishi are Nair's supervisors. He is assigning Manish Sisodia, the co-accused in the case, full responsibility. They must be faced head-on. Documents must be shown to them.
