The Met Office has warned of significant rains on Monday and Tuesday owing to Cyclone Remal, thus all government response agencies and line departments in Assam's Kamrup Metropolitan area, which includes the state capital Guwahati, have been placed on alert till June 1.

Due to weather conditions brought on by the Remal cyclone, which made landfall between Bangladesh and Bengal's coastal belt on Sunday night, the disaster management branch of the Kamrup Metro district has advised the Guwahati Municipal Corporation and its health, PHE, PWD, veterinary, and water resources branches to keep their respective teams in "alert mode for immediate response as well as continuity of essential services."

On Sunday, the ASDMA in Assam issued a Red Alert for seven districts and an Orange Alert for eleven districts.

Despite providing respite from the intense heat of the previous four days, the rain that began on Sunday night prompted the governments of Assam, Tripura, and Meghalaya to issue an alarm and take preventative measures to prevent unfortunate events.

Due to "unfavorable" weather, the districts of Ri Bhoi and East Khasi Hills in Meghalaya have ordered the closure of all schools, public and private, on Tuesday.

The Guwahati Municipal Corporation and its health, PHE, PWD, veterinary, and water resources branches have been advised to put their respective teams in “alert mode for immediate response as well as continuation of critical services" by the disaster management branch of the Kamrup Metro district as a prophylactic step.

The Brahmaputra and its tributaries will not be served by ferries or fishermen for two days starting on Monday, according to the DDMA, which has also advised circle officials to raise awareness of landslide accidents in high-risk areas by working with local police stations. There are eighteen hills all around the capital.

In addition, all revenue circle officers were urged to call the circle-level task force meeting right away and make sure that every line department under their control was adequately ready to respond effectively when called upon. They were also requested to determine which relief camps will be needed and to ensure that they were prepared to house the affected individuals right once.
