London stabbings: UK Police arrests man with sword, 5 injured

 


The authorities are not treating this as a terror-related event.

There were serious reports of a guy brandishing a sword and threatening people and police officers close to a northeast London Tube station. Armed with a sword, the man allegedly stabbed several individuals after crashing his car into a Thurlow Gardens home, according to the police.

According to the London Ambulance Service, five patients were treated and sent to a hospital, as reported by the Associated Press. Before being caught, the 36-year-old defendant allegedly assaulted two police officers as well. The authorities are not treating this as a terror-related event.

Not long before seven in the morning this morning, the event was reported to the Metropolitan Police.

Numerous ambulances and fire and rescue teams were among the emergency personnel who raced to the area. It is unknown what the injured parties' present conditions are, and the authorities have stated that they are not looking for any more suspects.

According to Deputy Assistant Commissioner Ade Adelekan, "This must have been a terrifying incident for those concerned," the Associated Press wrote. "I'm sure shock and anxiety will be felt by the larger community. We will share further details as soon as we can since people will want to know what has transpired.

"We are not looking for more suspects," Adelekan continued. This incident doesn't seem to be connected to terrorism."

He said on "I would ask people to give the police the pertinent information and refrain from speculating or sharing footage online."


Police in Ilford have closed the Hainault Tube station in reaction to the incident. Transport for London announced on X, "Hainault underground station is closed due to a police investigation in the area."
